Recently we started a poll question on Linked In that asks the question "How often does your company review your online analytics?" , the first question in a series of polls designed to show you how your peers view various aspects of inbound marketing and using the internet as a component of your business growth plans. This question will take no more than 20 seconds for your participation and we really hope you'll take that short time to engage.

Why are we starting with analytics? The old saying goes something like "You won't know where you're going if you don't know where you've been." and analytics programs and the data they generate offer business the most cost effective and precise information on the visitor activity your website is generating and can be extended to include your entire web presence...in fact they should be extended! (Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, You Tube etc.) If you don't have data that answers questions like:

  1. How many visitors are we getting overall?
  2. Which pages are getting the most visitor traffic?
  3. Where are the visitors coming from?
  4. Which calls to action are getting the best conversions?
  5. Which landing pages are getting the most responses?
  6. What blog posts are attracting the most visitors?
  7. What blog posts are generating the most comments?
  8. What keywords are visitors using to find our website?

...and the list goes on, how are you going to know what's working best for your company and where to focus future development initiatives? It's this sort of information that will allow your company to transform your website into a real business growth tool that attracts and engages your target audience. What are you waiting for?
