So, what do you look for? Here are 6 basic on page SEO elements your company should review and take action on regularly to achieve the best inbound internet marketing results for 'getting found':

- Page URL- “Web address”, should include a keyword as a best practice.
- Meta Keywords- Separated by commas, shouldn’t be longer than 10 keyword phrases per page.
- Meta Description- Important text, shows up in search engine results, should contain relevant keywords, to the point, no longer than 150 characters.
- Image Description- Spider bots can’t “read” images, include descriptive text in your meta programming using 'alt' tags.

Next, how do you find out and make changes? One way is to use your web browser's "Page" function and scroll to the "View source" (IE) or "View" / "View Page Source" (Firefox) for example. When you are looking at the source code, you can use the "find" function within "Edit" and search for things like the meta "keywords" and "description" etc. To make the needed changes depends on how your website is maintained, for Inbound Marketing Experts, the Hubspot platform we use makes it very easy to identify and any of these changes that are opportunities for improvement.
If you want to be organized (and we know you do!), use Excel (or similar software) to set up a spreadsheet. The top row could be each of the 6 items (you should add a "Date" column as well to keep track of last actions), and in the left column list the individual pages of your company website. This way you'll have a record of the pages that have been completed and the date so that on a regular basis you can review the page for further improvements.
